Will Playing for Australia
WILL TAKES ON THE WORLD STAGE
Congratulations to Will M, an exceptional athlete who recently achieved a remarkable milestone in his sporting career, representing Australia at the international Futsal tournament in Spain!
Selected for the Australian U16 squad, Will’s tour took an unexpected and thrilling turn right after his very first training session on Spanish soil. Recognizing his talent and tenacity, coaches handed him a massive opportunity and challenge: stepping up to fill a vacant spot on the Australian U19 team in addition to playing for his own squad.
Playing up an age bracket meant going head-to-head with elite, high-calibre international players—many of whom are actively pathing their way into the professional Spanish leagues. It also meant a grueling schedule filled with extra training sessions, intense match schedules, and doubling up on games.
Will rose to the challenge with outstanding grit and skill. His effort paid off as both squads delivered stellar performances on the court, progressing all the way to the Semi-Finals (U16) and Quarter-Finals (U19) against formidable international opposition.
Beyond the competition, the trip was a transformative experience, pushing Will outside his comfort zone, exposing him to new cultures, and sharpening his tactical game at an elite level.
The great news doesn't end there! Following his international success, Will has also been selected for the Central Coast Strikers representative team, where he will compete at the School Nationals tournament in Brisbane later this year.
Well done, Will! Your dedication, resilience, and sportsmanship are an inspiration to our entire school community. We look forward to following your journey and celebrating many more of your achievements in the years to come!
