Bethany Panjaitan (nee Rochford) serving at BaliLife Foundation

GPCC Alumni - Bethany Panjaitan (nee Rochford)  (2003)

Bethany takes time out of her busy schedule, where she serves as the Manager at BaliLife Daycare and Kindy to brief us on what life is like for her family living and serving in Indonesia.

"My Name is Bethany Panjaitan (nee Rochford) and I graduated from GPCC in 2003. I currently live in the south of Bali with my husband and our son born in June 2021. In 2006 my husband's family founded and continues to run a not-for-profit foundation called BaliLife Foundation, which won Best Foundation in Bali in 2015. BaliLife Foundation has three social projects in Bali; A children's home for surrendered and orphaned children, a community centre in Suwung TPA- Bali's biggest tip/dump and a Street kids Centre and Women's workshop in Denpasar, where mothers can work for a wage making handicrafts while their children are educated and schooled, providing an alternative to begging on the street.

I work with a team of amazing Indonesian educators running BaliLife Daycare and Kindy. This is our self sustainability project for the foundation which puts all profits back into BaliLife's Children's Home. We have over 70 children a day from 6 weeks up to 7 years old. Our community is made up of ex-pat families, local families and a few digital nomads. Here we offer a 'western style' daycare/preschool program run in English. I assist the team in training, parent relationships and speaking English.

If you're ever in Bali, drop by on a Friday night for a local experience of our family dinner, when everyone comes 'home' for dinner, or bring a few extras clothes you don't need anymore and help our foundation, every little bit helps.
