Christian Education
Christian education nurtures academic growth, character, purpose, and belonging. Students are encouraged to grow in compassion, integrity, and service, using their gifts to make a positive difference in the world.
At Green Point Christian College, Christian education is the foundation that shapes every aspect of College life. Our faith informs how we learn, teach, serve, build relationships, and care for one another.
Below are some of the key ways Christian education is intentionally lived out and experienced at GPCC.
Primary
In Primary School, students participate in a bible lesson once a week called ‘God Space’. During this time, they have the opportunity to explore God’s word and learn about their place in God’s Big Story. Each school day begins with a devotion where students worship, pray and read the bible together with their teacher and classmates.
Each week, the Primary School gather together for a Chapel Service that is hosted by our Primary Captains and Vice Captains. This is an opportunity to come together as a school to participate in praise and worship led by our teachers, pray together, and hear a biblical message from a teacher or guest speaker. Throughout the year, primary school classes are invited to lead a Chapel service where they share with the rest of the school a bible story or message that they have been learning about. Our parent community are warmly invited to come along to Primary Chapel services each week.
Secondary
EQUIP
Equip is at the heart of student life at Green Point Christian College. Twice a week, students gather in small groups with a dedicated Equip teacher for focused time that is about something more than timetables and notices. It is time set aside to know and be known, to grow as a person, and to be supported through the real challenges of school life.
Each year group follows a thoughtful program shaped around the College's Formation Framework. Students explore themes such as belonging, character, healthy relationships, conflict resolution, resilience, and what it means to flourish as a whole person. Programs like PeaceWise give students practical tools for navigating difficulty with maturity and grace. Alongside this, students are encouraged to reflect on personal goals, celebrate growth, and consider how their choices shape the community around them.
Discovery
All students in Years 7-10 participate in Christian education lessons once per week in a subject called ‘Discovery’. Students are invited to explore Christianity and life’s big issues through discussion-based lessons that are relevant and engaging. Students engage in reflection using ‘Discovery Journals’ that help them to apply the lessons of Discovery to their everyday life.
Students in Year 11 may choose to study a Certificate III in Christian Ministry for three terms through an external provider and are provided with a teacher mentor for the duration of this course.
LIFE (Chapel)
In Secondary, our weekly chapel like service is hosted by our Prefect team and our Christian Ministry staff. While LIFE may change week to week, each service involves student led worship, games, a student created video, prayer and a relevant talk from staff, local youth minsters, GPCC Alumni and Christian organisations such as Open Doors, Cru and Baptist World Aid. At times, we also tackle pertinent life issues through seminars such as body image, mental health, bullying and have panels with to discuss students’ questions.
There are occasions throughout the school year where we gather as a whole school community to commemorate and celebrate events such as Easter, ANZAC Day, NAIDOC week, Year 12 Graduation and our Foundation Day assembly. These assemblies are often a highlight of our school calendar.
PRAYER AT THE POST
Once per term, our College community gathers for Prayer and Praise, joining together to lift our community and wider world in prayer. This is a special time of reflection and worship, and all members of our community are warmly invited to attend. You will find details of upcoming Prayer & Praise at the Post events on our social media channels.
Equipped for Life
Green Point Christian College acknowledges God our Father, the creator and giver of all life, and the Darkinjung people who are the traditional custodians of this land. We pay our respect to their Elders past, present and emerging. We pray God's blessings over all indigenous people groups, and we ask for His wisdom as we love and respect each other as God intended.
