40 Year Anniversary Celebrations

40 YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY

On Wednesday 27 July our K - Year 12 students and staff joined together for our 40 Year Anniversary whole school Assembly to celebrate God's faithfulness through the decades.

Our MCs, Mrs Fay Davis and Mrs Kerrie Rochford recalled many humorous early GPCC memories. We welcomed Alumni students, Luke Taylor (2005), Gemma Leonard (nee Gardiman) (2018), and Maegan Cameron (2018) who joined our worship band. A video greeting was played from past students, Toby and Heather Houston who have been serving in ministry in Africa for the past 10 years. Current teaching staff/Alumni, Mrs Kaylie Turner (nee Higgins) (1997) and Mrs Jo Pearson (nee McCarthy) (1985) shared stories about their early days as students at GPCC. Past student Bethany Panjaitan (nee Rochford ) (2003) shared some memories of her time at GPCC from K - 12, and her ministry work in Indonesia. Our celebrations concluded with a whole school drone photo.

40 YEAR ANNIVERSARY BOARD AND STAFF DINNER

As part of the 40 Year Anniversary celebrations, current Board members and staff gathered to enjoy an evening together at Linton Gardens, Somersby. Those gathered gave thanks for brave pioneers who had the courage and tenacity to start the school in 1982, and to keep the school growing to become what it is today.

Our Principal Phillip Nash challenged us about the responsibility we have to keep that spirit alive in honour of their memory and their work. We were encouraged to embrace the future as we commit to renewing and refreshing the work that God has called our school to do, but most of all to renew ourselves so that we might be fit servants for the cause of Christian education.

40 YEAR ANNIVERSARY THANKSGIVING SERVICE

As part of the 40 Year Anniversary celebrations, a combined Thanksgiving Service was held on Sunday 7 August together with members of Green Point Baptist Church, and staff and families of Green Point Christian College. We were led in worship by past and current students and staff, and were reminded by Reverend Phil Blair from GPBC about the importance of remembering and giving thanks for our past as an encouragement for the season we lead and serve in.
Over 300 people attended the service which was followed by afternoon tea and an opportunity to look over memorabilia collected from the past forty years. Tours of the College were offered for those who had not visited for many years.
