Teacher Selected for Gandel Holocaust Studies Program

Congratulations to Mr Michael Street, Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE) Co-ordinator at Green Point Christian College, who has been selected to participate in the Gandel Holocaust Studies Program for Australian educators.

Michael is just one of ten educators selected from all subjects Australia-wide and is thankful for our College creating these opportunities for ongoing professional development.

The program will involve participation in a range of Holocaust education activities in Sydney from the beginning of 2021 and will extend for 12 to 24 months dependent on COVID-19.
Participants will also undergo 18 days of intensive study at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Remembrance Centre in Jerusalem, Israel under the tutelage of some of the world’s most prominent Holocaust historians and scholars.

Principal Phillip Nash described this selection as a significant achievement that will benefit Michael as well as many students at Green Point Christian College that he has opportunity to teach in coming years.

Michael Street was a recipient of the 2019 NSW Premier’s History Teacher’s Association Scholarship and has taught at Green Point Christian College since 2019. He currently coordinates Ancient History, Business Studies, Economics, Geography, History Extension, Legal Studies, Modern History, and Society & Culture. Michael also co-wrote the HSC History Extension Resource Book 2020, the main text used in NSW to teach HSC History Extension.
